Farewell Tucson, the new Hyundai ix35 is unveiled today. Due to be shown at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show, the new ix35 is the Koreans' latest crossover and will land in UK showrooms in spring 2010. Hyundai heralds its new 'fluidic sculpture' design language; we say it looks jolly slick, and not a little unlike Ford's Kuga junior SUV.Hyundai ix35: the new lookThe styling touches of note include the hexagonal grille, which is spreading across the faces of Hyundai's rapidly refreshed model line-up.
This year has seen quite a few important automotive milestones. Aston Martin celebrated its centennial, and the Porsche 911 turned 50, as did the Lotus Elan. Even Cunningham had a milestone to celebrate, with the marque founded by Briggs Cunningham turning 60.
A roadster version of the Toyota GT86 now seems certain as Toyota tease an open-topped roadster for Geneva with the FT-86 Concept. It took Toyota a long time to deliver the promise of an ‘affordable’ sports car, but the Toyota GT86 has delivered a proper driver’s car at a sensible price (and you can even have it as a Subaru BRZ if you choose). So a success with a single sports car model can mean only one thing – more versions of the same car.
